There have been headlines for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan regarding her scenes in the movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM). And the headlines have been
there for quite some time now.
Talking to the media, Aishwarya has given expression to her own
thoughts on the matter and the rather bold avatar. She has called it as the
requirement of the script and stated that the scenes were done aesthetically.
She disclosed that she felt comfortable playing the role and
added that “Today
I have worked; I know the overview. It is about how you approach a character
and doing that is relevant to times from 20 years ago. It is done in a classy
way. It is not frivolous sensuality onscreen." Talking about how Karan was
desiring it to be, she said "Karan would’ve liked a lot more intimacy. But
I’ve not gone beyond in terms of my comfort space.”
As for the character Saba, which she portrays in the film, the
star stated “It’s
the Saba-Ayan dynamics. She’s a progressive lady, impactful enough to become
his voice for the rest of his life, the reason he writes. He sings her poetry;
he finds expression in that. She continues to be part of his life forever.
There’s a continuum even in the separation.”
“You’ll
come away seeing only ‘wow chemistry’ or you’ll come away seeing the depth,”
she added.
As for the questions that have cropped up, Aish felt glad about
them. She felt no hesitation in admitting that she did not feel insecure in
doing a film where she ages. What she further liked was the response from
females. "It
was amazing”, she said.
Aishwarya came up with a question from her end too. She felt odd
about the link of age with reference to male-female dynamics. “Like a
journalist said when age is not discussed in the male dynamic, why is it being
discussed so much in the female dynamic?”
The other prominent stars of the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil are Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma who are pivotal to the movie. There
are also cameo appearances by Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas, Lisa Haydon and Shah Rukh Khan.
The day of release is October 28th, this year.
